Welcome to the American Trucker Memorial.

The intentions of the American Trucker Memorial, is to have a permanent presence on the world wide web, honoring all the Veterans of the transportation industry, primarily the trucking community.
This may be a driver, dispatcher, trucking company owner, owner operator (independent) or any other person associated with the trucking industry, who has had a positive impact in the transportation industry.
My name is Darrell De Ford, and currently go by the handle HellCat. I have been driving trucks on and off since 1986. I am concerned about our Knights of the road for their safety and well being. Some have given their life while helping others, and some have spent better than thirty years of safe driving on our nations highways and byways.
There are memorials for many other professions, yet there are none for the people who are most vital to our Nations economy. Truck Drivers built America, trucking is, and has been, the most integral part of our nation and world economy. If trucks stopped, America would stop, and the world would be in a total state of chaos. This is not just a catchy phrase, it is the truth. Dispatchers, warehouse employees and road work crews share the same importance. If you took one of these professions and eliminated them from the equation, the Drivers could not do what we do to keep America moving.
At one time the public viewed truck drivers as the Knights of the road. However due to the increased violence and crime towards drivers, more and more times a driver will choose to call the police rather than stop and help a stranded motorist. Another reason is cargo theft, and stopping on the shoulder of the road is not safe for the other motorists.
Truck Drivers are still the Knights of the road, the circumstances have changed, but the heart of the truck driver has not. We just help in different ways now.
Please help me pay tribute to our Knights of the road. The AMERICAN TRUCKER. in hopes that they may be honored for their commitment to our Country long after their death.
